Wandering Windermere & Dinner for Two

The only unfortunate fact about our trip to the Lake District was that it was so short. The first day was jam packed with food and activities, while the second day was spent travelling home. But I was insistent that we see the actual lakes of the Lake District before we left. So, after our massages but before our dinner, we drove down the road to Lake Windermere; the largest lake.

An Anniversary Surprise

On the 11th of August, my boyfriend loaded me and a couple of suitcases into the car and drove. I didn't know where we were going or how long the journey would be, but all I knew was that he had booked a surprise for us. The journey was 6 hours. The destination was the Lake District.

And even in the chilly Northern weather, it was paradise.

Love Me Beauty - August

Honestly, after last month's outstanding Love Me Beauty box, I was expecting to be a little disappointed with this month. They can't spoil us every month, of course!

I spent a really long time choosing between two of the menus, but eventually settled for Edition 2, a decision which I later regretted but will go into in a bit more detail later.

Marsk Mineral Eye Shadow in 'Foiled Again' - £14.49

I'm actually really confused as to whether this is a sample size or a full size, as it doesn't mention it being a sample anywhere on the website or the information card. It also came in it's own little packaging. This is a pretty silver colour and looks almost like glitter. It's not the kind of colour I would normally wear but I think it would look really pretty on a night out. That being said, if this is the full size I wouldn't pay near on £15 for it.

Oriflame The One Eye Liner Stylo in 'Black' - Full Size - £8.45

I've been searching the market for a while looking for a new eyeliner and this one falls into the realms of felt tip liners which I have often avoided. However, I actually really loved this product and have been using it as my eyeliner regularly. It creates a pretty smooth line and doesn't smudge or crack throughout the day. I find it a bit difficult to apply, though, because of my creased eyelids, but otherwise it's a really good product.

A La Carte Smudge Proof Eyebrow Definer in 'Blonde' - Full Size - £23

Another pretty expensive product is this brow ink. It can also be used for body art and eyeliner but I have been using it on my brows. It applies like a felt tip and takes a bit of time to get used to. The colour matches my brows perfectly as well. It's quite difficult to apply sometimes as you need a really steady hand to get the smooth strokes on your eyebrows. Also, it doesn't work if you've applied a primer beforehand, which I discovered when it wouldn't come out and the entire tip had soaked up the primer from my face.

Mirabella Lip Definer in 'Tart' - Full Size - £10.50

This was probably my only disappointment with the box. On the website the product advertised was the Mirabella Lip Lustre Liner in 'Charming'. I always research the products in the boxes before choosing, and as I loved the shade and the idea of the moisturising lip liner, I chose this box over another I could have picked. However, what turned up was a Lip Definer which is a completely different product - a liner minus all the interesting qualities of the Lip Lustre Liner. The card said I should have received the original product too, so I emailed Love Me Beauty and they said that they had misprinted on their website. I'm only disappointed because I picked this box mainly for that product and then it didn't turn up. It is a nice red shade however it is quite hard and rough to apply. I will wear it with my red lipsticks.

Weleda Sea Buckthorn Body Oil - Surprise Product

Love Me Beauty really love putting extra Weleda products in their boxes lately! I received the body lotion from this same range last month. Although it's a really handy product this has found a new home with my mama, as I already have a body oil that I really love.

Overall it was a pretty good box. I know I will use most of the products in it, but I was a bit let down by the product being wrong on the website. Also, I'm always honest, so I should tell you that I have actually now cancelled my beauty box subscription, not because of this box, but because I would rather save the money each month to buy a product I really love!

Let me know in the comments what you think of this month's box!

Breakfast at Muriel's

In my opinion, breakfast is the best meal of the day, because you can literally eat whatever you want and nobody's going to judge you. Dessert for an entire meal? Um...yah?!

We went to Rome for my mama's birthday, but the holiday didn't actually coincide with the actual date. This meant that we had to go somewhere extra special on the day too.

My parents had visited Muriel's Kitchen before and had rung me afterwards going "We found a perfect place for you to blog about!"

So we eagerly made our way up to Soho to visit for a hearty brekkie.

I have to say, the window displays here pretty much seal the deal. I know if I had been walking past I would have been sucked in by the vast array of cakes and savouries.

We began with drinks. I of course had a delicious strawberry and banana smoothie.

While my boyfriend and dad both went for a power smoothie consisting of pear and ginger.

As I mentioned, breakfast is a time for eating anything you want. So we had An English Platter to share as some kind of starter. Don't judge us...

A delicious scotch egg, crusty toast, chicken liver pate, seasonal mushroom tartlet, cheddar cheese and a caramelised red onion relish.

The Scotch egg was to die for. It was definitely the best I've ever tasted, and was served warm.

I was also a bit in love with these beautiful plates.

But the strawberry demanded some attention and requested a photo.

Moving on to what can be considered a 'real breakfast', I had blueberry pancakes. Shock! These were the closest thing to actual cakes that I've probably ever seen in my life. They were huge.

And smothered in maple syrup...

They were nice but so heavy. I could barely finish one let alone the entire plate! I did also have to ask for extra maple syrup because how they thought that teeny jug would hold enough for these monsters was beyond me. They happily brought me another one, though.

My boyfriend had the full English, which looked pretty flipping epic.

My dad had the Champions Breakfast. Two (perfectly cooked, I must add) poached eggs on avocado, honey and chilli with toasted granary bread.

This brekkie is not for the faint of heart, however, as those chillies manage to pack a little punch!

After eating, we went exploring downstairs.

The decor of this place is amazing. There's even a table in the window with chairs that are swings. Unfortunately this seat was taken by two ladies who were already eating when we got there and were still chair hogging when we left about two hours later.

The restaurant has the kind of detail you'd expect from a Disney restaurant. Everything is carefully placed to make you feel like you're in somebody's home.

As we left, we were sorely tempted to take away some lunch too. But our full bellies denied us the pleasure.

This place has certainly earned a return visit from me. Although I think next time I will skip the pancakes for fear of feeling like a giant blueberry pancake afterwards.

There are three of these wonderful places in London; Soho, South Kensington and Leicester Square, so if you ever find yourself wandering the streets of London in search of a quick bite to eat, you know which kitchen to pay a visit to!

You may also have noticed that I now have Pin It Buttons on my photos! This means if you see something around here that takes your fancy you can save it to your beautiful boards! Magic!

15 Before 30

It only hit me the other day that I am now actually in my twenties, which is ridiculous because I'm still actually six years old. But in real world time I am twenty...soon to be thirty. Which is scary.

I have a bucket list which is filled with things I want to do before I die, but I thought, why not bring them all forward a bit. I don't know if it says a lot about me that I only have fifteen things I want to do before I'm thirty, but I suppose it means I'm very happy with my life, as it stands. As I journey through my life over the next ten years, I will keep track of the things on this list and let you know if and when I tick each one off.

So here they are,

1. Write and publish a novel.

2. Go to Glastonbury festival.

3. Have a dessert created and named after me.

4. Run the London Marathon.

5. Go to Comic Con and cosplay as Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite.

6. Graduate university with at least a 2:1.

7. Complete my Disney Animated Classics Collection.

8. Visit Ecuador and ride the Swing At The End of the World.

9. Read 30 books in a year.

10. Road trip across America.

11. Learn to knit.

12. Visit the Italian Lakes.

13. Become a face character at Walt Disney World, Florida.

14. Go to Vidcon.

15. Get married.

Arrivederchi, Roma

On our final day, we said a heartfelt goodbye to beautiful Rome. The trip had been short, but so magical and were two of the happiest days of the year.

Osteria Barberini and the King of Truffles

I take it after my mum that I'm a big trip planner. Before I go anywhere I know exactly what I'm doing each day and especially, exactly where I'm going to eat.

After scouring Trip Advisor, my mum came across Osteria Barberini; a tiny little Italian restaurant only five minutes from our hotel. It had a five star rating and for good reason.

Truffles is one of them.

Il Miglior Gelato a Roma

Or, 'The Best Ice Cream in Rome'. C'mon, I had to have at least one Italian title.

So I you may have thought to yourself, "Well, if Jordan loves food so much, why hasn't she mentioned ice cream?" Well, observant reader, I believe ice cream to be so important that it deserves it's own post.

And I really think this baby deserves it's own post.

Wonders of the Vatican

On what was to be our last full day in Rome, we walked to the Vatican City; the place that I think is a must-see in Rome. If you ever find yourself lost in Rome for a few hours, spend it here. You will not be disappointed.

Arriving in Eden

After what felt like the longest journey all time, we finally arrived in Rome, nearing midnight. We were tired, smelt like plane and my eyes had swollen to double their size from a spontaneous allergy from one of my products. Honestly, the hotel literally looked like heaven by the time we got there. It was appropriately named the Hotel Eden.
