2017 - Let's Do This

Can you believe it's 2017 already? Part of me keeps looking at that little '17' every time I write it down and thinking "Holy hell! 2000 was 17 YEARS AGO!" Let's not think about that again...

I do like to make a few little goals at the start of every year, even if they're usually outrageous and unlikely to be met, but for me I knew as soon as the clock struck twelve that I wanted this year to be totally different.

So here are a few little things I'd like to do to boss 2017...

BE MORE POSITIVE

For me, being positive has always been a huge struggle. The most negative version of any event always plays out in my mind first, and it has never done me any good. I'm also definitely in the habit of putting myself down all the time and it has to stop. I've lost way too many friends over this and it's not happening again!

BE HAPPY

Kind of links in with the first one, but I always think about that advert in the first episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (if you haven't watched this show then you NEED TO!) where Becca looks up at a billboard that reads "When was the last time you were truly happy?" One thing my mum constantly says to me is that "Nothing will ever be enough unless you have happiness to begin with." This year, I want to be happy in myself and what I have.

TRAVEL MORE

Last year I travelled five times, which is pretty flipping amazing! This year I just want to keep expanding my list of destinations and even if I match 2016, that would be fabulous. I'm already starting the year off in Dubai for my birthday but the rest? Well, that's the beauty of it!

BUILD MY TRIBE

One thing I loved reading about in Emma Gannon's Ctrl Alt Delete book is the idea of building a 'tribe'; a group of people who you surround yourself with who make you feel amazing, who inspire you to do better and be better. Last year, I really discovered who my true friends are and people like Olivia, April, Monica and Allie have all been there for me when I've been struggling. I also feel so inspired when I meet up with other bloggers, so I would love to just hang out and grab pancakes more!

POST CONSISTENTLY

I'd love to really post more consistently on my blog, even if it's a little less often. I've decided that posting once every three days is a good amount for me and focusing on quality over quantity means I'll be far less stressed and guilty about it.

FIND A JOB

Preferably one in social media but to be honest I'm not too picky! Anything that means I can continue blogging and doing what I love.

WRITE MORE

Oh dear, I write this one every single year on my new year's goals but this year I really want to write more. I've always wanted to write a novel and it's something that I've been putting off for a very long time. This year, I'd like to dedicate more time to just sitting down and writing anything and everything that comes into my head.

I'm ready for you, 2017. Bring on a whole new year of adventures!
