Mermaid, 1961

Photography by Martin Brown

As much as I love street style, there's always something a bit special about having a studio photoshoot done. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to have a bit of a confidence boost as it's honestly so much fun! The first studio shoot I did was when I was 18, and my mum bought me one of those photoshoot experience days. Since then, I've loved having them done! Call me vain, but I think there's nothing nicer than having a set of photos of yourself that you love and you'll be able to look back on in years to come.

If you've followed my blog for a while you'll know my friend Martin does some of the best portrait photography around, and I was super excited to work with him again. I also really wanted to show off this dress that I bought from Lipsy, because it actually might be my new favourite dress.

Little bit different from my normal tulle numbers, right?! As much as I adore my princess dresses, sometimes I just want to feel more like a glamorous 1960's Hollywood movie star in a tight-fitting, mermaid style dress.

On the website I don't think the dress is really shown to its full potential. It is actually stunning. It's incredibly flattering and is one of those dresses that you could dress up or dress down, depending on the shoes and accessories you pair it with.

I'm also 100% all about that Audrey Hepburn life, so I tried to style my makeup off hers. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out considering I have the makeup skills of a winged fruit bat.

I'm so happy with how the photos turned out and it was great to get some shots with my new hair as well! I think some people get a bit funny when you say that you love a photo of yourself. They think that you're showing off or obsessed with your appearance. But I actually think there's nothing nicer than seeing a person love themselves. It's so refreshing and it's fantastic to see someone truly happy with how they are.
