JB's, Brighton

Last week, we had a little bloggers gathering at one of my favourite haunts in Brighton. For those who have lived in Brighton long enough, you will have probably already figured out where I'm talking about.

Of course, it's JB's American Diner aka Milkshake Paradise.

My friend Allie (also known as Living Life in Docs) had somehow tragically never been to this amazing place so myself and Emma (also known as CheekySmiles101) decided it was time to take a little trip.

Here's Allie looking appropriately excited.

I can imagine that the outside is quite easy to walk past for the unsuspecting tourist...

But to those who know it's secrets, it is positively a treasure trove for those who admire the good old fashioned America.

The walls and ceiling are plastered with memorabilia, posters, and classic signs such as "Unattended children will be given espresso and a free kitten."

Plus they also play Tom and Jerry on multiple television sets around the restaurant all day.

What makes these milkshakes so famous, you may ask? Well first, have you seen them!?

How could you resist that beautiful display?

Also, from just £4.50, you can receive not only this hulking great milkshake, but also a 3/4 full tin of the leftover stuff, which can be used to refill the glass at least 1 1/2 times over.

Allie had Mint Choc Chip, Emma had Milky Way and I went for my all time favourite, Real Banana. Many of my friends will know my undying hatred for the chain Ed's Diner, where they use their creepy banana flavoured powder in their milkshakes (that also tastes pretty gross). None of that here! Nothing but ripe, fresh bananas and thick dairy ice cream.

Yes, this place is not for the faint hearted. The milkshakes are a meal in themselves! However, you will find yourself tempted by the savouries on the menu, like we were.

Emma had a burger, which was too much after her hulking milkshake. Luckily, JB's have a takeout box for everything you buy, including your milkshake, so you don't need to worry about the waste.

I had cheesy fries. They melt the cheese in layers, so every chip is covered.

And Allie had the southern fried chicken strips. You can read her blog post about the experience here.

The actual food isn't amazing but is what you would expect from a diner, and for the price the portions are huge and you definitely won't walk out feeling hungry or unsatisfied. JB's is one of those places that does what it says on the tin, plus there's something for everyone.

But did I mention the milkshakes are out of this world?
