REVIEW | Beauty and the Beast at the London Palladium

Last week I had the pleasure of being invited down to the London Palladium to see the revival of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I remember seeing the show when I was very young during it's original West End run but to be completely honest, I can hardly remember it at all. The only memories I now have are from listening to the soundtrack and seeing various clips on Youtube. So I was really excited to see this new adaptation and see how they had brought my favourite Disney film to life. My tickets were kindly provided by London Box Office

Long story short, I absolutely adored this show. From beginning to end it was a visual feast for the eyes, with incredible costumes, beautiful sets and amazing visual effects. I still can't figure out how they did the Beast's first transformation, as well as how they made Chip work (no spoilers, because his reveal is brilliant and you need to see it in person!).

Courtney Stapleton was absolutely amazing as Belle and her vocals were just unreal, plus I loved the humour and charm that Shaq Taylor brought to the Beast. I really loved their chemistry together.

Another standout performance was from Gavin Lee as Lumiere who absolutely stole the show in every scene he was in. Perfect comic timing!

In terms of musical numbers, I enjoyed them all so much, but of course Be Our Guest was a complete show stopper! I absolutely loved that Belle joined in with the choreography in this version and it really was a wow moment of the show. I found it odd that Act 1 didn't end with Be Our Guest as it felt like the perfect moment for it!

Overall, I'd highly recommend seeing Beauty and the Beast! It will be running until the 17th September at the London Palladium so there's still plenty of time to get your tickets. It's such a wonderful show and perfect for everyone in the family. I'd give it five stars for sure.
