Anyone who knows me will know that I have a mild candle obsession. And by mild I am greatly under exaggerating. There are at least two candles in every room in my house, and then I have the candle cupboard which is stocked with replacements. There is something I adore about them at all times of year; they make the house smell wonderful, they add a beautiful atmosphere and they just generally make me happy.
In fact, the only thing I really love about Autumn and Winter is the prime candle lighting opportunities. As much as I hate the cold there is something about curling up in a fully heated house with a ton of candles burning making the place smell like a Christmas market or woodland forest. So when PartyLite got in contact and asked if I would like to review some of their Halloween candles I was like YES YES OH MY GOSH YES.
The box arrived promptly and was very well packaged with those amusing foam peanuts that I would love to dive into a pit of one day (strange dreams). The first thing I noticed was the smell. I immediately caught the Autumnal whiff of the candles inside and I was so excited to check out each one.
As you can probably tell from the sugar skulls, the candles I was sent are based around a Day of the Dead theme, something I've always been intrigued by. They sent me one big two wick candle, two votive holders, a colour changing base, a pack of scented tealights and a pack of scented votives.
As you may have noticed, clever Jordan forgot to turn on the colour changing base that she went all the way out to the shop to buy batteries for. However, I can tell you it is really cool. It changes rapidly through lots of different colours and adds an amazing effect when the skull votive holder is on top.
The candles themselves smell amazing! They aren't too sweet which is really important to me. It's hard to describe scents but they are very autumnal and I'm really looking forward to lighting them around Halloween time.
I also love that the tealights are scented. Although they don't give off as strong a scent as the larger candles they add a lovely subtleness and are fantastic if you don't feel like burning a whole candle.
