Golden Sands

Cornwall is utterly beautiful, so it's no surprise that the summer months bring in the most people. After exploring the beaches in St Ives the day before I knew that they weren't really for me. They were super crowded with deck chairs, umbrellas and of course people, so we asked our hosts at the B&B for a beach recommendation where we could take Oscar. They told us to visit Porthkidney Beach, about a five minute drive from St Ives.

The weather brightened up so much that it was time for a beach dress and the obligatory removal of shoes for sandy toes.

The best thing about the beach was that they allowed dogs, meaning Oscar could frolic in the sand and sea till his heart's content.

Although he did receive quite the sandy nose.

You may recognise my dress from when I played Johanna in Sweeney Todd. As I bought the dress myself I was allowed to keep it, which was fantastic as I really do love it. The beach seemed like the perfect opportunity to wear it again, with the sleeves meaning I wasn't too cold in the chilly air and the gorgeous detailing adding a touch of glamour to the beach look.

Will there be a picture of my crazy face on every beach? Most likely.

Meanwhile, Oscar was busy making friends. There were so many dogs around it was so lovely to have other dog owners to talk to. They really are the friendliest people and having a dog is such a fantastic ice breaker!

I'd definitely recommend Porthkidney if you're looking for a less crowded beach down in Cornwall. It's truly beautiful with the most golden sands that stretch for miles. The water is incredibly clear as well, something you'd never see in Brighton!

Let me know what you think of this look in the comments. Are you more fond of a bustling beach or a deserted bay?
