Winter Walk

After a glorious Christmas day stuffed to the brim with presents and food, we set out on a Boxing Day walk to the local pub, a few miles down the road.

It was an opportunity to get some fresh air and to burn off a few calories from the day before. But most of all, I was excited to use my new 50mm lens that my boyfriend bought me for Christmas.

I can tell you already that I'm pretty much in love with the 50mm. It takes a bit of getting used to and I'm still attempting to twist it to try and zoom, but the pictures it takes are beautiful. To me, they capture the essence of everything I see.

The air smelt fresh and cold, with a hint of chimney smoke. The kind of air that just reminds me of the colder months.

Along the way, we met a friendly face...

...or two!

These handsome fellows followed us alongside the fence, until they got bored and trotted away. I'm sure they had a lot of horsing around to do.

Eventually, after becoming numb to the toes, we arrived at the pub, where a roaring log fire greeted us and we sat happily by candlelight.

Although this walk nearly killed me (it was the walking back bit that did it!), it was wonderful to get out of the house and into nature. Even on a roadside walk such as this one, there is always so much to see if you just have a look around.
